Our modern day lives are now intrinsically coupled with the environment in which we live and work and are filled with machines and gadgets which are wholly electric/electronic and more often integrated with some mechanical device or machine both at home and at work.
It is vital that pupils are given the opportunity to learn and understand how these machines and gadgets work and may be even repair
Up to now we have lived in a throw away society but now as aur awareness of the damage we are doing to our eco system there is a move towards making things last much longer, more environmentally friendly and more energy efficient.
Systems and control will help pupils understand their lived in environment and possibly help them in their career choice.
